Instructional Equipment Grant

The CLA Office of Information Technology along with the CLA Student Technology Fee is pleased to offer funding to CLA units seeking to purchase computer equipment for instructional purposes. The College of Liberal Arts Office of Information Technology (CLA-OIT) facilitates the instructional equipment grant program.

Instructional Equipment grants may be used for the following activities:

  • Instructional equipment, software, licenses that enable faculty members to develop new or improved methods to deliver course materials in and outside the classroom;
  • Computer equipment that is widely shared within the department for instruction;
  • Creation or maintenance of computer labs utilized by CLA undergraduate and/or graduate students.
  • Note: Projection system installations for departmentally run learning spaces are appropriate proposals; however, an equipment grant may only be used to cover 75% of the cost. Departments will be responsible for remaining 25%.

Guidelines for Application

  • Consultation with technical support staff is required.
  • The following will not be considered for funding: consumable media, slide projectors, personal printers, computer equipment that is provided/replaced through CLA Computer Replacement Program, equipment that is used for administrative or faculty research-related activities.

Who is Eligible to Apply?

Faculty and staff in the College of Liberal Arts are eligible for instructional equipment grants. Students or external units may submit proposals; however, a CLA faculty or staff member must be listed as the primary proposer. There is no limit on the number of project proposals individuals or units may submit.

Review Process
Technical support staff will first review proposals. Then, a working committee comprised of an undergraduate student, graduate student, and faculty member will present their funding recommendations to the CLA Dean’s Office. CLA-OIT will contact proposal submitters with the final decision.
