Digital Content Library
The Visual Resources Center manages the Digital Content Library (DCL), an online catalog of audio, video and images. Departments and units all across CLA have contributed and this easy access to high quality materials has generated much excitement. The DCL has helped to improve the overall teaching and educational experience in the following ways:
- Almost 200,000 objects are now available to be used by the faculty, students and staff at the University of Minnesota (including coordinate campuses).
- This project is partnered with the College of Design, which has increased intercollegiate cooperation and expanded the variety and scope of materials.
- Adhering to national standards insures that exceptional quality and accuracy of information is provided along with high-resolution images and streaming audio and video.
- Access to the DCL allows faculty to show a variety of formats in class without having to switch from VCRs, CD/DVD players and slide projectors.
- X.500 authentication password protection insures that copyrights are protected, while making it much easier to make the materials accessible to the widest possible audience.
- The DCL is now hosting collections from 30 CLA departments and units, the College of Education and Human Development, the University Libraries, the Humphrey Institute, the Duluth campus and the College of Design.
