Instructional Technology Fellowship Program

The Instructional Technology Fellowship (ITF) Program is part of the Academic Technologies Department in CLA-OIT. The mission of the University of Minnesota College of Liberal Arts Instructional Technology Fellowship program is to promote and increase the thoughtful, effective use of technology to enhance teaching and improve learning in support of the mission of the  College of Liberal Arts and the University of Minnesota.

The ITF program is a grant-based program that provides human resource assistance to recipient CLA units. The ITF staff, called IT Fellows, consists primarily of graduate students who work in a wide range of capacities to support and promote the adoption of instructional technologies to improve teaching and learning, including (but not limited to) support of course web sites in WebVista and Moodle, distance learning, podcasting, blogs, wikis, clickers, animations, and video. The IT Fellows are dynamic innovators in CLA units, striving to bring cutting edge technologies to the schools to improve CLA students' learning experiences and outcomes. The ITFs also serve as liaisons between CLA-OIT and the departments, apprising the central staff of academic technology needs and interests, and alerting departments to opportunities to participate in CLA-OIT sponsored programs and events.

The ITF program impacted over 8,000 CLA undergraduate and graduate students in CLA courses in the Fall of 2006; one of the goals of the program is to help improve teaching and learning through the use of technology for all CLA students. If you have a project idea, if you are currently working on an innovative project and would like our team to know about it, or if you would like more information about the program, please contact Jude Higdon, Instructional Technology Support Team Coordinator, 5.6878.
